The property os located on the South coast of Isla Cristobal, a 20 minute boat ride from the port town of Almirante, and 30 minutes from Bocas Town on Isla Colon… just far enough to feel exclusive, but close enough to feel safe.

 

The Land

20 acres of sloped western facing land, this property experiences beautiful sunsets. The property is accessible via its own private harbor, for which a marina concession is in process. At the shore line of this deep water bay 3 separate docks lead to the property.

Dock 1 is currently home to a 35 foot sail boat and boasts additional capacity on either side, it is the perfect place to park your sailing vessel without concern. To the left is a second dock which leads directly to a large flat lawn and producing coconut grove- a great portion to segregate and re-sell, or to build extra guest accommodations. The final dock, and most southern, is the most utilitarian, with tow covered boat lifts, and the caretaker’s (or guest) 3 bedroom home, for 24 hour waterfront surveillance. The waterfront of the property also features a small internal island to kayak around and provides refuge for the many waterfowl.

From the shoreline, a partially paved loop driveway leads in two directions. The first option is a direct path to the home, while the second encircles the majority of property. Both routes are easily driveable with the electric golf cart and Polaris, which are included in the sale.

The direct pathway to the home winds up the property’s ridge to the grand home perched on top. This ridge spans the width of the property and slopes back into the wilderness behind the house, allowing direct views into the canopy from the rear side of the home. Along the top of the ridge is a beautiful nature path, where the elevation catches the seabreeze and the giant trees provide excellent shade.

The Buildings

From air conditioning, to an electric golf cart, the Caribbean Hacienda spares no comfort despite being off grid. Thanks to its robust solar system you can retreat from the all encompassing outdoor ecosystem to a modern and luxurious home. The golf cart, the home, worker home, and a floating home in the harbor, all feature lithium batteries for reliable, low maintenance power. The main house has two complete solar systems, and a “float” charge system so when the house batteries fill, they charge the golf cart with the excess solar energy.

The ground floor of the main home has a studio guest suite with a large indoor/outdoor bathroom with spa shower facing the rainforest. Views from the shower cascade down the back of the property into the jungle, and from the bed/living space across over the bay. The guest suite is air conditioned, has its own washer and dryer along with the ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette.  Two more ground floor flex rooms are currently used as storage, but they could be converted into a second studio guest suite.

Outside, the covered staircase leads up to the Caribbean Island Hacienda’s main floor, you arrive at the outdoor lounge with ceramic tiles and panoramic views of the bay and beyond, to the green mainland of Bocas del Toro. From this breathtaking arrival, either enter into the home or pass through to the screened in portion of the veranda, which wraps 3 quarters of the home’s exterior. Inside the main floor find an air conditioned guest room with ensuite bathroom, a octogonal living space, a galley kitchen, and a half bathroom.

The top floor is the cherry on top of this incredible home, an octogonal master bedroom and ensuite bath which boast incredible views in every direction. The top floor also has a screened-in wrap around veranda- there is no shortage of comfortable outdoor living space at the Caribbean Island Hacienda!

Another highlight of the property is the gorgeous floating home moored in the main harbor. It has its own refrigeration, water collection, solar and sewage treatment systems. Located a short swim from several vibrant reefs, one can snorkel and return for a heated rain water shower in the tiled shower. This unique floating home offers amazing guest, owner or rental accommodation.
