Basic Facts About The Drago Beach House
The Drago Beach House is an island escape located on the North West beach of Isla Colon. On the sandy edge of the Caribbean Sea, this heritage style home faces West for unobstructed sunset views. Among palm trees, monkeys and crystal clear water, this property has everything a traveller wants when visiting Bocas del Toro, it is a popular rental on Airbnb and offers a great space to enjoy the peace and nature that surrounds it. The Drago Beach House is only a 20 minute walk to Playa Estrella (starfish beach) and 40 minutes by car or bus to the down town peninsula of Bocas Town. This island road is currently being redone, and electricity now reaches the North Coast of Isla Colon, to which the Drago Beach House is now connected!
The Buildings
The Drago Beach house is made up of 5 buildings which make it perfect for events like weddings and yoga retreats! The main house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each floor has two bedrooms with a claw foot tub bathroom between them. On the ocean side of each floor, are large indoor living spaces, wrapped by covered verandas for even more breezy lounging space. Large wooden windows open to invite the sea air and spectacular views. The upstairs living area has a massive couch which can also be converted into extra bed space for group rentals, the home will be sold furnished.
The second building is connected to the main house by a covered breezeway, it is here that the kitchen, bar, and dining room are located. The Kitchen is fully equipped, and the dining room has seating for 14! A stylish lounge next to an antique bar reminds us of colonial times, and compliments the architecture. The third and fourth buildings are currently used for manager quarters, they each have 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. The fifth building is two stories with a bedroom upstairs and an octogonal living space which opens up directly onto the beach on the ground level. Did somebody say “honeymoon suite”?!
The Land
The Drago Beach House was built in 1990 in a style inspired by Colonial times. Did you know Drago was once Isla Colon’s town center, with a post office and all!? These days the area offers access to one of Bocas del Toro’s top day trip destinations – Starfish Beach, only a 20 minute walk along deserted seashores from the property itself.
The Drago Beach House property is 5000 m2 of pure beachy BLISS, located about 200 meters past the end of the Drago Road and the last bus stop. This logistical plus is the only tether to the real world, and the last ride is at 6:30 pm…. meaning every night the Drago Point beaches become a private paradise, shared with only 2 neighbors! The stretch of beach directly in front of the Drago Beach Home property is lined with ancient almendro trees, with hammocks hanging in their delicious shade, with branches holding golden patio lights to illuminate the beach bar at night. A 6×6 meter over the water rancho extends the outdoor living space over the crystal clear Caribbean Sea, accessible by its 12 meter dock which leads from the sandy shore.
